Wisconsin Plumber Licensing and Continuing Education Program

Except as provided under s 145.06 –

No person may install plumbing unless the person holds a credential issued by the department as a licensed master plumber, restricted, journeyman, restricted apprentice, restricted plumbing learner, utility contractor, or pipe layer.

Wisconsin requires CEU credits to renew the license, and certification holder in the necessary amount at least 3 months prior to the expiration date.

  • The Master & Journeyman plumbers are required to have 24 hours of acceptable continuing education in 4 years and the Cross Connection Control tester 6 hours in 4 years.
  • Continuing education instructors must be approved by the department and maintain records for 5 years. Upon successful completion of the course the instructors must complete the process by submitting the appropriate license information through the DSPS web site for the credit to be issued.
